As we return to school from what was hopefully a relaxing half term, the children have certainly hit the ground running.
Each year group have started their new topics with Year 5 being turned into Merton Space station with all their fabulous home learning projects and posters being displayed. It truly is out of this world.
Year 6 had a fabulous trip on Wednesday to The British Museum in London. They spent a good few hours looking at all the wonderful artifacts and learnt a lot of new facts. They all thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the gift shop!
Mr Sherman took the Upper school football team down to Gosport for a tournament run by Chelsea F.C. The group of 8 boys and girls competed against 4 other teams in their group losing only one match, which was to the eventual tournament finalists, and were unlucky to miss out on goal difference of progressing to the semi finals. Well done Team Merton.
Due to the weather, the Inter house Football tournament had to be cancelled on Friday but we are all looking forward to the rearranged date as we are sure it will be a very hotly contested competition by all the Houses.
Friday saw our MSSC afternoon about Guy Fawkes where the children learnt about the gunpowder plot, watched a video about it, drew pictures of him with charcoal or pencil and made a Guy Fawkes hat.
Next week is shaping up to be just as exciting, busy and fun filled.
