This week, 60 of our Year 3 and 4 children embarked on a little adventure to the Gordon Brown Centre. Whilst we were there we were able to get up close and personal with a whole range of animals including chickens, goats, pigs and bunnies whilst taking part in a whole host of activities. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side for the 3 days we were there but at no pint did that dampen the children's spirits (just their clothes)!
As a staff we were so excited to see how the children would react to the infamous climbing walls and death drop alongside getting very muddy doing a blindfolded assault course, den building, pond dipping for greater-crested newts and mini-beast hunting through the woods. They loved it! Each evening, the children came back to the dormitories buzzing about what they had been up to and encouraging others to when it was their groups turn.
We were so impressed with everyone's resilience as it was very wet and very cold but they all kept going and no-one let a little bit of rain get in their way. Finishing the evenings with a cosy movie night and hot chocolates to warm up and then a "rave" style disco on Thursday really was the icing on the cake and even better when the sun shone for our last morning of fun in the woods.
Thank you for lending us your children for the 3 days - they were an absolute asset to yourselves and the school and we couldn't have asked for a greater group of children to come with us.
