This half-term, Year 5 will be stepping back in time as we begin our powerful new history-led topic, Through the Eyes of a Child. Through our learning about World War II, the children will explore what life was like for young people during this significant period in history.

We will be looking at key events, evacuation, rationing and the impact of the war on everyday life, using stories, diaries and historical sources to help us understand the experiences of children at the time. It promises to be a thoughtful and engaging half-term as we develop our historical enquiry skills and empathy, seeing history from a truly personal perspective.
