In today’s hyper-connected world, access to the entire world can be on one device. Whilst mobile phones and digital platforms offer incredible opportunities for learning and connection, they also present unique challenges that require a proactive approach to safety.
At Merton Junior School, we believe that e-safety is a fundamental life skill. Our goal is to empower students to be responsible digital citizens who understand how to protect their privacy, recognise online risks, and maintain a healthy balance between screen time and the real world.
Protect Your Privacy: Use strong, unique passwords and never share personal details like your home address or current location on social media.
Think Before You Post: Remember that the "digital footprint" you create today can last a lifetime. If you wouldn't say it or show it in person, don't post it online.
The "Check-In" Rule: We encourage parents to have regular, open conversations with their children about the apps they are using and who they are communicating with.
Switch Off for Sleep: To support mental well-being and academic focus, we recommend a "devices off" policy at least 60 minutes before bedtime.
