Pupils are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character and, if they wish, bring along a copy of their chosen book to share with classmates. This year, there will be special prizes awarded for the most creative costumes — with a big focus on handmade designs, recycled materials and imaginative props.

As part of the celebration, every child will receive a £1 World Book Day token to use towards a book of their choice at participating bookshops and supermarkets.
