Welcome back to Summer 1!
We hope you all had a wonderful and restful Easter break and enjoyed some quality time together as families. Thank you for your continued efforts and support during the last half-term—it has been fantastic to see the children’s enthusiasm and progress.
This term, our new topic is Animal Magic! This is a science-led unit where children will explore both humans and animals, learning about classification, habitats and how living things depend on one another. Pupils will build on their understanding of the digestive system, food chains and teeth, as well as identifying and grouping animals in a variety of ways.
Alongside this, we will be focusing on the important work of key conservationists, including the presenter of Deadly 60, Steve Backshall, and David Attenborough, as well as others who have helped to protect endangered species and raise awareness about our planet. This will help children understand the importance of caring for the environment and the role humans play in protecting wildlife.
A reminder to continue supporting your child with their homework routines: we expect 5 reads per week, along with regular spelling practice and times table revision. Your support at home is, as always, greatly appreciated.
We were also delighted to welcome Kelly Murphy, who led the children through an exciting series of sponsored activities. The event was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to challenge themselves physically, learn about determination and resilience, and be inspired by the experiences of a professional athlete. Have a look here at a selection of photographs from the day!
We are looking forward to a fun and engaging half-term of learning!
