Hampshire School Games
Yesterday, we were lucky enough to attend the Hampshire School Games. Our school was selected from Basingstoke and the teachers picked children from each class to attend. This is an event to inspire children and showcase new games and sports. There were lots of schools from all over Hampshire - even the Isle of Wight travelled on the first boat in the morning to make it.
We started the morning with a few warm ups and dances and then had a parade around the running track.
Our first activity was quidditch and we loved it!
We then had target games, which include football target practice, nerf wars, target throw, bowling and archery.
We stopped for some lunch in the leisure centre to get some cool air as it was very hot!
Our third activity was creating our own game and whichever team highlighted the best teamwork and game were able to take the equipment back to school. We won!! So we came home with some shiny new equipment.
Our final activity for the day was OAA (outdoor adventurous activity) We toasted marshmallows, made fires, threw throw lines to mannequins who were 'drowning', had to get out of rope ties and creating the smallest raft without taking our feet off of it.
The whole day was a real experience and the children who came were so well behaved and had a great time being physically active.
