After 2 years in the planning and preparation, our 'Logan' Woodland walk was officially opened today.

Named after a much loved member of the community, ex pupil and vice chair of governors, our woodland walk will be home to many lessons, observations and mindfulness lessons. Mark Logan helped the school with the view to create a space where children can explore nature and find some peace and quiet and this project could not have happened without his perseverance and support through his work with Toyota Community funds. It was a pleasure to have Mark's family officially open the walk today in loving memory of him. 

Over the past few months and weeks, the school community has really got involved in making the walk an incredible place to be filled with woodland plants, bird nesting boxes, hedgehog houses, minibeast hotels, bird feeders, benches and seating spaces. We cannot wait to be able to use this space properly with all of the children. 

At Merton Junior School, we use Picture News each week to support our understanding of the world and what is happening around us. This is a fantastic resource which provides up to date information, allows for fantastic conversations and really makes us think about topical, local and world wide issues. We also link in these topics to our own school values as well as the British Values. 

We are delighted to announce that we are now an advocate school for Picture News and will continue to support the hard work that goes into keeping our children up to date.
