  • Hampshire School Games

    Fri 23 Jun 2023 Miss I Knowles

Yesterday, we were lucky enough to attend the Hampshire School Games. Our school was selected from Basingstoke and the teachers picked children from each class to attend. This is an event to inspire children and showcase new games and sports. There were lots of schools from all over Hampshire - even the Isle of Wight travelled on the first boat in the morning to make it.

We started the morning with a few warm ups and dances and then had a parade around the running track.

Our first activity was quidditch and we loved it!

We then had target games, which include football target practice, nerf wars, target throw, bowling and archery.

We stopped for some lunch in the leisure centre to get some cool air as it was very hot!

Our third activity was creating our own game and whichever team highlighted the best teamwork and game were able to take the equipment back to school. We won!! So we came home with some shiny new equipment.

Our final activity for the day was OAA (outdoor adventurous activity) We toasted marshmallows, made fires, threw throw lines to mannequins who were 'drowning', had to get out of rope ties and creating the smallest raft without taking our feet off of it.

The whole day was a real experience and the children who came were so well behaved and had a great time being physically active.

  • Year 4 vs Oakridge

    Mon 19 Jun 2023 Miss I Knowles

Huge well done to the Year 4 boys football team for their fantastic game against Oakridge. This was their first time playing a match vs another school so they did incredibly well. It ended with Oakridge winning 2-1 but the boys gave them a hard time trying to score.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to watch.

  • Rucstall football match

    Mon 12 Jun 2023 Miss I Knowles

We played our final league match and gained an extra 3 points.

Well done to the boys football team for their brilliant effort and optimism. With three draws we gained 3 points and Rucstall gained 2 goals in one of the quarters.

We will find out results from the table once all schools have played their matches.

  • Football tournament

    Fri 09 Jun 2023 Miss I Knowles

A massive well done to the boys who came to the St Bede's football cup today. The children were absolutely fantastic.

We started with 3 losses in the games we played, then went into the semi finals. It was 0-0 so we went to extra time and then penalties. We won on penalties 7-6. This meant we then went through to the final against the other winning team - this was to decide who came 1st or 2nd.

We scored first, then St Bede's also did. It was down to penalties again. We WON 5-4!

I am so proud of the boys, the perseverance they demonstrated was brilliant. We pulled it back from the first 3 games and played incredibly well when we needed to! A huge shout out to Maison for being a wonderful goalkeeper and saving some very tricky penalties (better than the premier league)

Well done boys, we won a trophy!

  • Cricket competition

    Fri 09 Jun 2023 Miss I Knowles

A massive well done to the cricket team for a superb day. The children were fantastic and adaptive as it was a new competition for us. They scored 439 runs in 200 balls. It was a lovely day in the sun and I very proud of how supportive they were with not only our team but other school teams too.

We came 5th overall but we didn't go easy on any team! We won 3 games, had a draw and a loss.

    Well done cricket team!
