  • Sports Day

    Fri 17 Jun 2022 Miss I Knowles

    Sports day 2022!

This year we were able to have our first sports day in over 2 years. It was fantastic to see so many families come and support their children. The children were able to partake in multiple activities to get their bodies moving. We were very impressed with all of the children as they were able to boost points for their teams.

Well done to Tom Daley’s team (blue team) who were able to achieve the most amount of points for their team and celebrated with the trophy!

  • Paralympic Athlete Visits Merton Junior

    Fri 10 Jun 2022 Miss I Knowles

We had a fantastic morning with Kylie Grimes. Kylie is a Paralympic rugby player. She began playing wheelchair rugby in 2008. She is a gold medalist wheelchair rugby winner, the only female on the Paralympics GB team, at Paralympics Tokyo 2020/2021. Kylie was appointed (MBE) in 2022 for services to wheelchair rugby. The children were taken through a workshop with her, which was very tough work! They had 4 exercises to do and they were encouraged with lively music and Kylie’s motivation.

We then were able to listen to Kylie’s story and see her GOLD medal! We even got to watch the Toyko highlights which was very interesting - tackling in wheelchair rugby looks scary! She was absolutely brilliant and hearing about her resilience even in a wheelchair was amazing. We wish Kylie the best in 2024 Paralympic’s in Paris!

  • Scoot to School Challenge

Tue 07 Jun 2022 Miss Gregor

Merton Junior School have signed up to take part in the Scoot to schools challenge this year. The aim is to encourage children (and families) to reduce their use of cars and find a healthy and cleaner mode of transport to make the journey to and from school.

Each class will record who travels in which way and we will be able to enter into the Hampshire competition.

If you don't have a scooter, please do not worry - walking, cycling even roller blading is better than jumping in the car and if these options aren't possible, then maybe think about parking a little further from school and walking the rest of the way.

We need to help our planet so which ever actions we take, we can all help!

  • Year 6 Production

Tue 07 Jun 2022 Mrs Moore

Summer 2 marks the big end of year production for Year 6 and this year they will be performing 'A-la-la-la-la-laddin.'

Already the songs are stuck in our heads, lines are being learnt and costumes are being brought in. For all children at Merton, they will get to see the live performance during the final dress rehearsal and for parents, we have 2 live performances to watch.

For families of Year 6 children, please look out for letters regarding costumes and tickets.

We cannot wait for the whole production to come together and share it with the rest of the Merton family.
